About Jax
Jax Mildner’s painting practice is rooted in experimentation, nature, and paths of self-discovery. Prior to establishing herself as a painter, Mildner held a 15-year career dedicated to the art of professional dance. These years anchored her commitment to line, elegance, and precision. Stepping into the role of an abstract painter, Mildner’s practice translates and embodies the distinct physicality of organic, composed movement. Since 2016, Mildner expanded her creative practice into the painting studio to champion an experimental technique using water, heat, and gravity to meld acrylic and enamels in an alchemic dance across the canvas’s surface. The resulting abstract works evoke an ethereal expression of patterns and organic, flowing natural forms. Currently, Mildner is working on a new series that continues to be influenced by biomimicry and expressions of the rich PNW landscape, yet plays with contrasting elements of structure, defined brushwork, and absence. Mildner lives with her family in Bellingham, Wa and creates in her own studio/gallery space (Synapse Gallery).
